Frankfurt To Dubai In 30 Seconds

About AvoMap
And all started with one motorbike trip.
Hey, I'm Tobi. I ride motorbikes, I take a lot of photos, and I built AvoMap because a folder of pictures could not show my friends what two months on the road had been like.
A few years ago I took a long break from work, packed the bike and rode from Frankfurt to Dubai. It took 62 days. France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Iran, and then Dubai.
I recorded the track every single day. When I got home I had a folder full of GPX files and thousands of photos, and no good way to show anyone what the trip had actually been like. A line on a flat map says nothing about the passes, the climbs, or how far the desert goes on.
So I wrote a little tool for myself. Drop in the track, and watch the route fly over real terrain, with the height and the scale that the flat map leaves out. AvoMap started as a page for that one trip. The video is further down this page.
Then it turned out other people had the same folder of GPX files and the same problem. Trail runners, cyclists, sailors, people driving across a continent. That is who I build it for now.

This is the video I built AvoMap for. It is made from the tracks I recorded on the way, played back over the terrain I rode through.

You pay per video, when you export it. The editor itself is free, with nothing locked behind a plan.
AvoMap runs in the browser. Open it on the laptop you already have, import a file, press play.
Routes play over 3D elevation. A mountain pass looks like a mountain pass, not a squiggle on a flat map.
If something breaks or you are missing a feature, write to hello@avomap.com. That is how most of the editor came to be.
Not all from the same trip. The bike changes, the habit of stopping for a photo does not.

The editor is free and every feature is unlocked. You pay one credit per video, only when you export.
