We use cookies to make your experience with AvoMap smoother, faster, and more personal. This policy is part of our Privacy Policy and explains how and why we use cookies on avomap.com.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember who you are, what you did, or how you like things set up — like your timezone or whether you’re logged in.

Some cookies are set by us (called first-party cookies), and others are set by tools or services we use (called third-party cookies).

Why we use cookies

We use cookies to:

  • Run the core features of AvoMap (like login and saving your projects)
  • Understand how people use the site so we can make it better
  • Keep things secure and reliable
  • Remember which affiliate sent you, so they get credit and you get your discount

We don’t use cookies for ads, and we don’t track you across other websites.

Types of cookies we use

Essential cookies

These cookies keep AvoMap running. They’re used for things like logging in, remembering your settings, and helping pages load correctly.

Without them, AvoMap won’t work.

Performance cookies

We don’t set any cookies for analytics. We use PostHog, hosted on European servers, and we run it in its cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device, and visitors are counted using a temporary code that is worked out on the server and thrown away every night. Yesterday’s code can’t be matched to today’s, so we can see that a page was popular without being able to follow you around.

Inside the app itself (app.avomap.com) we do record what account holders do — importing a route, adding an overlay, exporting a video — because that is how we know which features are worth improving. That is tied to your account, not to a cookie or a device fingerprint, and nothing is written to your browser for it either.

Your IP address is used once, on arrival, to work out roughly which country you're in — then it's discarded before anything is saved. We don't store IP addresses, and we can't use them to find you later.

Affiliate referrals

Some people find AvoMap through a link shared by one of our affiliates. That program runs on Rekomi. If you arrive through an affiliate link, Rekomi’s script saves the affiliate’s code in your browser’s local storage for 90 days and may also set a first-party cookie (_rkmi) holding the same code. That is how the affiliate gets credit if you later buy credits, and how you get the referral discount. The code travels with you when you go from this site to app.avomap.com.

On that first visit, Rekomi records the click itself: the affiliate code, the page that sent you, and any campaign tags on the link. It also runs a one-off device check from IPQualityScore, a fraud-prevention service, so affiliates can’t earn commission by clicking their own links. That check may set its own cookies. If you didn’t come through an affiliate link, none of this runs, and nothing here is used for advertising.

Functionality cookies

We currently don’t use these. But if we ever do, they’d help with things like remembering your language preference or timezone across visits.

Targeting/Advertising cookies

We don’t use these. No ads, no creepy tracking. Simple as that.

Third-party cookies

We use a few third-party services to run AvoMap. Some of these services may place essential cookies (for things like checkout, security, or load balancing). Our analytics provider does not use cookies.

  • Analytics: PostHog (EU) — anonymous, aggregated stats on this site, with no cookies. In the app, usage is recorded against your account.
  • Payments/Checkout: Polar — may set essential cookies for session management, fraud prevention, and tax compliance.
  • Affiliate program: Rekomi — only if you came through an affiliate link. Keeps the referral code for 90 days (local storage, possibly a cookie) and runs a one-off fraud check via IPQualityScore. See “Affiliate referrals” above.
  • Infrastructure/Security (e.g., CDN/WAF): May set essential cookies to keep the site reliable and secure.

We carefully review every third-party service we use, and we only allow cookies needed to run the site, take payments, and credit affiliates. We never sell your data or allow third parties to use it for their own advertising purposes.

How you can control cookies

You can tell your browser to block or delete cookies anytime. Most browsers let you:

  • See what cookies are set
  • Delete cookies from specific sites
  • Block cookies entirely or only from third parties

Just keep in mind: if you block all cookies, AvoMap might not work as expected.

If you use multiple devices or browsers, you’ll need to update your settings on each one.
