“With AvoMap, we’ve added stunning 3D previews of our race courses — not just helpful for runners prepping before race day, but also a game-changer for our live briefings on-site. If you're a race organizer looking to give participants a clearer, more immersive course overview, we highly recommend it.”
A Strava Flyover You Can Download
Strava's Flyover plays in the app and stays there. AvoMap renders the same activity from the GPX as an MP4
— no subscription, and the file is yours.
Fly Along Your Route
The dynamic camera follows the track and adjusts tilt and speed to the terrain. That's the flyover. Or set the angles yourself, per segment, and add a pause at the summit if you want the viewer to see the view.

Get Your Activity
out of Strava and into a video
- Export the GPX
On strava.com, open the activity, click the three dots below the title and choose Export GPX. The phone app doesn't have this, so use a browser.
- Load it into AvoMap
In the editor, click Select GPS File and pick that file. The track appears over 3D terrain.
- Fly it and export
Turn on the dynamic camera and press play to check the flyover. Then export the MP4 in 1080p or 4K.

Elevation Included
The GPX from Strava carries elevation. AvoMap keeps it: the route climbs over real terrain, and an animated elevation chart is one click away.

We have added full 3D course previews with AvoMap, which are useful not only for runners before our races but also for our live race briefings at the event. We recommend AvoMap to fellow race organizers who want to provide better course information to their participants.

Got the GPX already?
Check what's in it with the free GPX viewer, or turn it into a KML for Google Earth with the GPX to KML converter. Both run in the browser and nothing is uploaded. Not exported yet? The Strava video guide shows where the GPX button is and walks through the render.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I download a Strava Flyover as a video?
Not from Strava. Flyover can be shared to other apps from the phone, but there is no file to save. The workaround is to render the activity yourself from the GPX, which is what AvoMap does.
Do I need a Strava subscription?
No. GPX export works on every Strava account. The AvoMap editor is free, you pay per exported video.
Will it look like the Strava Flyover?
Same idea: a camera flying along the route in 3D. You choose the map style, the route colour, the markers and how the camera moves. An elevation chart and your own logo are optional.
Does it work for rides, runs and hikes?
Anything with a GPS track. Cycling, running, hiking, skiing. Several activities can go into one video as separate segments.
Where is the GPX export in Strava?
On strava.com, open the activity, click the three dots below the title and choose Export GPX. It is not in the phone app.
What does a video cost?
Five exports for $9. The editor and the preview cost nothing.
